August 11-20
Wednesday 8/11: I slept in and then met up with Fehlbaum at school for lunch. It was nice catching up with her. I’m really glad she’s still going to be around this year. I like her. I ran some errands, decided to go to the mall, and then went to the gym before coming home around 6. I didn’t mean to, but I napped for about an hour and then sat around until going to bed at 10.
Thursday 8/12: I didn’t open, but my shift started at 5:30, so it was like I opened. I think the 5:30 – 9:30 shift is a waste, and I much rather stay until at least noon if they’re going to make me wake up that early. I was home by 10 and was wired since Dallas made me drink a “coffee bomb” with him and Nandor. Mistake. My parents were coming, but I had time to kill, so I posted all of my old weekly updates onto my blog that I stopped writing on right after I started writing the updates. So really, it’s like I never stopped. And since I figure I won’t have anyone to write updates to within the next week or so, I might as well start doing the daily blog thing again. My dad showed up with the couches and kitchen table around 1:30 and left when my mom showed up with some other stuff about an hour later. I can’t remember the last time we were in the same place at the same time. Maybe it was when I moved into Hayes… Two years ago. Crazy. It’s weird to think my parents were ever married. Well, I guess technically now they were never married. Thanks Dad. I wonder how different things would’ve been had they stayed together. I wonder if we would’ve done family things like go on vacations or even just out to dinner. I didn’t get any of that growing up. I didn’t mind it though. They split up when I was one and a half, so it’s not like I knew any better. I’ve grown to become a little bitter about it though. I guess I’m part of the family my dad has now, but I don’t consider Jennifer family and I’m hardly ever around, so it doesn’t feel like I’m really a part of it. That makes me feel bad for Emme, the not being around part, but I try to be a good big sister when I can. I just hope someday I’ll have a family that does family things together. My mom and I spent the rest of the day doing stuff around the house, although we took a break for dinner. Our shower wasn’t draining well, and neither was one of the sinks in the kitchen, so I went to Ralphs to get stuff to remedy the situation and stopped by Starbucks for some fuel. The sink and shower are totally fine. I fixed them. The shower was gross though, and totally not my fault. I was extremely drained by the time my mom left around 11, but I somehow managed to stay up until 1. Silly me.
Friday 8/13: This week flew by. And hopefully the next 10 days will fly by too. I absolutely cannot wait to see you. Major roomie withdrawals as of late. I slept in, did some stuff around the house, and fb chatted with your boy for a while before running some errands. Our fb chats are always quite enjoyable. I went to work at 5:30 and closed with Sandy and Yeltsin. Sandy is so socially awkward, it’s ridiculous. She was hopped up on caffeine, so she was being weird and hyper, so it was a trip. It was a little too much for me to handle, but I got through it.
Saturday 8/14: As of late, Scout like to run around downstairs for a good half hour before coming to bed. When the couches showed up, it turned into 45 minutes. When I woke up, around 6, I noticed that Scout wasn’t around and I didn’t think she ever was. I went downstairs to make sure she was okay, and there she was, on her chair, sleeping. She came up to cuddle about 45 minutes later and let me sleep until 10. I got ready, finally got our parking stickers, and then sat around anxiously for Erin’s arrival. Erin had a million heavy boxes show up, so I brought them all upstairs for her. That was my gym sesh for the day. The Flowerses… Flowers’s… Erin and her family showed up around 4:45, I showed the around, and then left for work at 5:15. I closed with Sandy and Amber, but Sandy was too much for me to handle. She’s always half-assed things, but it was too much this time. Things needed to get done that weren’t getting done, and she didn’t care. I was trying my best to get things done, but she wanted me to stop. That’s not okay. And every time I would say something, she would say “Well I don’t give a fuck anymore.” That’s not okay either. We got out at 10:30, so on time, but it was a terrible close and I didn’t leave happy. I ranted when I got home, so that was nice. And seeing the house full was nice too.
Sunday 8/15: I had work from 8:30 to 12:30, but stayed until 1 since we were uber busy. Sundays are usually the busiest. I went to the gym after work, and then got home a little after 2. It was just Kate and Mr. Flowers, but Mr. Flowers left for home. Nobody really knows why. And he defriended Mrs. Flowers, Kate, and Erin on Facebook. I showered and would’ve taken a nap, but I figured I shouldn’t. Erin and her home came back with a shit ton of stuff from Target, so her room was pretty much done. It’s very cute and very matchy. We ended up going to Coogies for dinner, and then went over to Mal Yo, and then we went over to Starbucks so I could say hi to Tim. He wanted me to come over, so I obliged. He got really nervous and awkward when I introduced him to everyone and it was silly and cute. We were texting for a while after that and he asked when I was off from work so he could take me out. It’s not going to happen. We got home around 9 and everyone was pretty sleepy. I managed to stay up until 11, but everyone else went to bed at 10.
Monday 8/16: I woke up kind of early, but we didn’t leave the house until almost 11. We went to Paradise Cove for breakfast where I had yummy coconut macadamia pancakes. We got back home a little after 12, let our food digest for a little bit, and then headed out for a Costco and Target run. We took 2 cars since we figured we’d have lots of stuff. We would’ve been fine with 1 if Kate and I just stayed home. Erin got even more stuff, which is great, but I kind of felt weird about it. Her parents are buying her EVERYTHING. I mean, my family has bought me stuff too, but I’m buying everything for the most part. While we were on our way home, Erin got in a fender bender. Both cars came out unscathed, so it was just a little love tap. That happened to me about 2 weeks ago, I just don’t think I put that in your update. It’s a dumb story. Anyway, I helped Erin do some stuff in her room, which was silly and fun and made me really happy, and then we went downstairs and had dinner. I was really tired, so I ended up going to bed around 10, which was smart considering I had to wake up early anyway, but didn’t end up falling asleep until around 12. And I was texting you about being anxious. I was just thinking about how incredibly excited I am to see you and to have you here, but then I started thinking about how much I think I’ve changed this summer. Although, maybe I haven’t really changed that much. Regardless, I like whatever’s changed. But what if things have changed too much? What if our dynamic doesn’t really work anymore? What if I revert back to how I was before this summer? I don’t want that. We’ll be fine right? Things will great between us? We’ll still be silly and have adventures? And we’ll actually talk this year?
Tuesday 8/17: I opened, which sucked considering Mrs. Flowers was sleeping downstairs and I had to walk down the creaky stairs early in the morning. But whatever. It was just me and Dallas until 7, when Grace showed up, and then things got crappy. I finally corrected her about my name, but she was still really annoying. She is just so spacey and doesn’t get it. I was in charge while Dallas was on his lunch, so I had her on register and Johnny on bar while I was helping out wherever I could, and she doesn’t get orders right. Johnny and I had to remake a whole bunch of drinks that she wrote incorrectly. I worked until 10, went over to the gym after work, and then was home by noon. Erin went in to see me after her run, but I was already at school. She agreed hands down about how spacey Grace is. Erin left to take her family to the airport a little after 2 and I just hung out at home until she got back. I needed to get my mom a birthday present, so I figured once Erin got back we’d go to 3rd street or at least do something since it was going to be our first night of being real roommate. She went out with B.A. people instead. I left for Santa Monica around 7 and stopped by Starbucks on the way home. Claudia was really happy to see me, so that made me feel better about not having Erin around. I like it when people are happy to see me. I stayed until 9:30, came home and chillaxed until I was too tired to stay up for Erin.
Wednesday 8/18: Scout slept with me for the first time in days, but I think it was only because no one was downstairs and Erin had her door closed. When I got too tired of her kitty cat kisses, which didn’t take very long, I asked her if she wanted breakfast. That got her out of my face. So we went downstairs and had breakfast. Erin came down and joined us and then Skyped with her friend Claire for a while. My mom came over around 3 and helped us do some handy stuff around the house until she left at 9. Erin had some NSO meeting at 7 and then went over to some party for a second at that guy Josh’s house (the first guy she had a thing with in BA). As she and Tyler were leaving (the second guy she had a thing with in BA), Laura showed up. Erin said she was being really bitchy and was impersonating her perfectly. Laura wanted to do lunch, but Erin’s busy with NSO stuff for the rest of the week. And she threw me under the bus and said I wanted to see her too, so they should wait to do anything until it works with all of our schedules. But that’s okay. She doesn’t want to deal with her alone and I’m sure having me there would kind of deter her from being as bitchy.
Thursday 8/19: Erin had NSO stuff starting at 8:30, so she was already gone when I woke up at 8:15. I headed over to school to check my mail, turn in some paperwork, and go to the gym, and then I spent the rest of the morning and much of the afternoon doing laundry and lounging around. Erin got out at 6, but I missed her since I had work at 6:30. I would’ve worked 11:15-3:45, but I switched shifts with Daisy, which I later regretted after checking my shift for Friday. I closed with Amber and Sandy, and as soon as Sandy got there, a little after I did, I was already annoyed. All she does is bitch and moan about everything. And she was singing the entire time. I tried not to pay attention to her, but it was difficult. I got home around 10:45, and was planning on going straight to bed, but Tyler was coming over, so I had to stick around to at least say hi. It was kind of awkward. I said my hellos and then went to bed a little after 11.
Friday 8/20: I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep since I had to open, but Erin came in to visit me before going to NSO training. I went to the gym and then headed over to the soccer field to do event staff stuff. It was hotter than expected and spending 6 hours in the sun without spf left me really really crispy. Seriously. I ended up taking a nap with Scout after I got home and was settled, then contemplated hanging out with some people from work. Erin got home around 8:30 and left to a party with BA people around 9:15. I met up with Claudia, Yeltsin, Dallas, Jesse, and Sandy at Starbucks at 10 and then headed over to Dallas’s friend’s/Tim’s recently ex-benefriend’s, Hannah’s, beach house. She was actually really cool and nice. Everyone got really drunk really fast, so it made for an entertaining evening. Sandy gets even more loud and obnoxious when she drinks and was creeping Claudia out with her lesbian vibes, so we left her at the house. I was her ride and she was going to stay at Claudia’s, but neither of us wanted that. I got home right at 3 and was greeted by a vocal kitty. And she’s been giving me more kitty cat kisses than before. I don’t know why. It bugs a little bit.

August 4-10
Wednesday 8/4: The little one actually let me sleep in for a while, so that was nice of her. She kept talking to me until I physically got out of bed though. I spent a good chunk of time chatting with Yeltsin via facebook, which was unexpected, but kind of nice. Unfortunately he just broke up with his girlfriend, so that part wasn’t so nice. Then I finally ventured out to IKEA to exchange that coffee table. And I had lunch there. It was kind of weird, eating lunch by myself at IKEA, but it was cheap and surprisingly tasty. And I had this almond cake thing, which was DELICIOUS. I almost went back for another piece, or 2, but then I would’ve felt weirder. It was probably in the low 70s in Malibu, which has been the norm all summer unfortunately, meaning absolutely no tan, but as soon as I got on the freeway it was 20 degrees hotter. I was burning in my car. I think I’m going to give all driving responsibilities to you and Katy when Malibu decides to be warm. I got back around 6, went in to Starbucks to chat until 7, and then went and got some groceries. I built stuff and filed stuff when I got home and then figured I might as well just go to bed. I stayed up for a while texting Tim though. He’d been in Wisconsin for a few days and had been texting me quite frequently. This particular time was about this girl he was benefriends with, but ended up having feelings for. He needed someone to vent to. I just so happened to be that person.
Thursday 8/5: I got to sleep in again and spent pretty much the whole day listening to music, playing with the silly kitty, and surfing around online. Real productive. When I got too bored, I ventured to the gym. I miss having it within walking distance, but at least it gets me out of the house. I made dinner, did laundry, and watched Short Circuit on Hulu for the rest of the night. That is, until Daniel called. It was already kind of late, so I tried keeping the convo as short as possible, but it was still kind of long. He was talking about his break up with his gross Chihuahua momma and about how much he misses “being with me”. I didn’t really understand what he meant by that, and I didn’t really want to ask. I miss spending time and hanging out with him, and I miss the idea of us as an us, but that part wouldn’t work. Not anymore. I would very much like the adventuring to continue, but that probably should be chaperoned for a while. I don’t really trust us as “friends that used to date but aren’t anymore” yet.
Friday 8/6: I slept in, lounged around for a while, went to the gym before work, and then closed with Joe and Sandy. Joe’s fun to work with. I like him. We got out early, I deposited my biggest paycheck ever, which felt wonderful, and was home by 10:30. Claudia asked me to meet her after work at a kickback, but I was feeling kind of crappy, so I opted not to go. Yeltsin went though. I thought about going out after I got home, but figured it probably wouldn’t be smart. It probably wasn’t smart for Claudia to be out since she had to open the next morning. Oh, and I tried putting Scout’s pretty pink collar on again a few days ago, but it was still too big. But now it fits. She’s growing up so fast, but she’s still so little. And I realized that I haven’t been home in 2 months. That’s the longest I’ve never been home. I mean, I went until I think mid October last year, so 2.5 months, but I had gone out that way to see Daniel a few times, so it doesn’t really count. I’ve thought about going home a few times on my days off, but ultimately didn’t really see the point. I’ll go home eventually, I’m sure. Maybe I’ll go home for my mom’s birthday. I’m sure she’d appreciate it.
Saturday 8/7: I didn’t fall asleep until after 4, so that sucked. I had work at 9, which was busy, but fun, and I stayed an extra hour and a half to cover the rest of Johnny’s shift. He tweaked his back and was hating life, so he left at 3, when I was supposed to be off. I took a quick shower and then met up with Sandy, Dallas, and Yeltsin at Claudia’s apartment since we were going out for her birthday. We pregamed a little and then set off for Santa Monica. Sandy drove herself, Claudia drove her sister and Ainsley Oakes Ellington, her roommate, and I drove with Dallas and Yeltsin. If Abercrombie & Fitch had a car, it would be Dallas’s. It smelled like Abercrombie & Fitch, the music was loud and was the type that would be played there, and Dallas is tan, pretty, and ripped like one of the models. We ended up at Barney’s Beanery and met up with Matt Gibson, Johnny, and Johnny’s roommate, Bobby. It took forever to get seated, so when Claudia and I got bored, we went and took shots in the bathroom. It was silly. We finally got seated, ate our yummy food, and left a little before 11. Sandy left early to go get someone from the airport and I drove back with Dallas since my car was at Starbucks and he was going out with some other people. Everyone else ended up at Matt’s house. I would’ve liked to have gone, but I was already super tired from not getting a whole lot of sleep and working a long shift. Oh, and I took Jeremy Piven’s order. One grande skinny vanilla latte.
Sunday 8/8: Sleeping in was glorious. The sun was actually out before 3, so I contemplated going to the beach, but then I remembered it was the weekend. It was going to be packed. Then I thought about laying out on the balcony, except there was a nice shady spot in the shape of a tree branch, so that wouldn’t work. I lounged around instead. And according to Claudia, Ainsley really likes me and wants to hang out more. That’s fine with me. I like new friends. Work was really fun. I got in at 3:30, worked with Joe, Claudia, and Dallas, and closed with Claudia and Dallas. I like them a lot. Way more than Johnny. And Yeltsin came in to chat for a bit, so that was fun too. I stopped by Ralphs real quick to get some kitty cat crunchies and then was home by 11.
Monday 8/9: I woke up to the sound of running water, so that freaked me out a bit. Turns out there was a major pipe in the Villas that was leaking, so everyone’s water was shut off for a few hours. That kind of ruined my plan of getting ready and going out, but it turned out okay. I was supposed to go to the beach with Claudia after she got off of work at 12, but the beautiful weather that was around the day before didn’t stay. She opted for sleep and I tackled domesticity. I finally got around to hemming the curtains in my room, I swept, Swiffer dry clothed, Swiffer wet clothed, AND mopped the floors, I cleaned my bathroom, finally unpacked the rest of my things, and made myself dinner. I suppose it was a productive day.
Tuesday 8/10: I woke up before the sun, but I didn’t mind the opening shift at all. I opened with Dallas and Claudia, and it was just us until Johnny and Amariah came in at 10, so the morning was fun and it flew by. And it was Claudia’s first time being in charge, so that was fun to watch. Claudia and Dallas left at noon, and I stayed until 1:30. It was perfect beach weather, but I felt gross, so I chose to come home and shower instead. And then Scout got a flea bath. She was NOT happy about it, and it was definitely a two-person job. I toweled her off and blow dried her, but she was still cold, so she was extra cuddly so I could keep her warm. We ended up napping for 2 hours. I didn’t really do much of anything for the rest of the evening, but that’s okay.
July 28- August 3
Wednesday 7/28: I opened with Amariah again, but she left pretty early to go to some class in Culver City. Emory and Yeltsin came in in her place, and that’s the way it stayed until noon. Emory forgot to give me my ten minute breaks when I was supposed to get them, so I got to stay an extra 20 minutes, but didn’t have to do anything. I got paid to sit, basically. I got home, got ready for class, and tried really really hard not to fall asleep. I could feel myself doing the head bobbing thing. If my eyes closed for more than a fraction of a second, I was doomed. Class was even harder to get through than usual. Not only was I really sleepy, the Sassot was making even less sense than normal. AND he gave an extension on the paper that was supposed to be due. I wasn’t very happy about that. After class, I went over to Claudia’s and then we went out to dinner at Roscoe’s. Turns out she got the shift supervisor position. I’m happy for her and all, but it’s weird that she’s only been working for 3 months and she’s going to be in charge of people who have been there 3 years. Whatev. We drove around for a bit afterwards and then went to Diddy Riese and to see Toy Story. It was cute. I was tired the entire time, but I had a really great time hanging out with her. I got home around 11:30 and was out cold by 12.
Thursday 7/29: I didn’t open, but I did have to be at work at 5:30. It was really chill until 8, but then it got super busy. I was supposed to leave at 9:30, but Amariah asked if I could stay. I was planning on going to the gym after work and then going home to study, but I figured I could skip the gym. I also figured I’d just stay for an extra hour. I ended up staying until after 1. That didn’t leave me time to really study for my final, but I think I did okay anyway. I was too tired to go to the gym after my final, so I just went home. Part of it was because I was extremely exhausted, part of it was because I was relieved to be done with summer school, part of it was because I miss you and Katy tons, and all of it was because I probably needed to, but I had a nice little tear fest for a few minutes. It was dumb. I made some dinner, chillaxed, showered, chillaxed some more, and then was in bed by 10. Out of character, but was kind of necessary.
Friday 7/30: I opened with Dallas, worked until 11:30, hung around for an hour, and then got a much needed haircut at the salon 2 doors down from Starbucks. I planned on going home after work to get my haircut, but the lady I normally go to was leaving at 1, and I wasn’t going to get there by 1. 2 maybe. It was waaaay too expensive, although it looked and felt really good. Price of beauty in Malibu I suppose. I napped when I got home and spent time with Scout since I felt like I hadn’t been around a whole lot lately and I figured I wasn’t going to be around until the next morning. I got to Clayapalooza around 10:30, and minutes after I got there, Daisy and Dallas showed up, so I spent the first part of my night with them. Dallas got really drunk really fast, so he bailed, and Daisy and the shit show she came with disappeared right after Dallas left. And then I saw Clay making out with Darlena. It was at that point that I decided I would not be staying over. Lisa and George saw too, so George unsuccessfully tried breaking them up and Lisa came over to see if I was okay. They were drunk, but they cared. Clay and Darlena locked themselves in his room a little after midnight and never came out. The cops showed up around 12:30 and made everyone leave. Everyone meaning those who didn’t find a room to hide in. I ended up in the same room as some SigEp freshie, Michael Arevalo, that I fell in love with during Songfest. I saw him during dress rehearsal and was sold. I told one of my freshie friends and he ended up telling Michael. He definitely knew who I was. “Ohhhh! Delphiiiinaa!” “Yeah, I’m that one.” We spent the rest of the night talking, so that was nice. There were still a good number of people around after the cops left, so the party turned into a kickback. I just sat around talking to people until 3, and then Michael and I went out in search of food. We failed. Everything was closed. I dropped him off and was home by 4.
Saturday 7/31: I kind of just stayed in bed until 5, dozing off off and on. I think I needed the sleep. Since the day was pretty much wasted, I lost all motivation to do anything productive, so I spent the rest of the evening surfing the internet and I eventually watched Spice World and ate a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. It was nice. I did some more aimless surfing and went back to bed at midnight.
Sunday 8/1: Wow. August. I woke up around 10, did some stuff around the house, and then went to work at 3:45 and closed with Joe and Sandy. I actually talked to Joe this time. He’s pretty cool. And he’s sorta pretty. Sandy always shortcuts things, so we were out early and I was home by 10:30. I allowed myself an hour of unwinding time and was in bed by midnight.
Monday 8/2: I worked from 7 until 11 with a whole bunch of people. Dallas, Claudia, Amariah, Joe, Grace, and Johnny. We needed the bodies I guess. We’d been super busy in the mornings between 9ish and 11ish. I spent the first hour with Claudia and Dallas, so that was fun, then Claudia started her training when Amariah and Joe got there, so then I was being silly with Joe, which continued when Johnny got there, and then Grace showed up. She is definitely no barista. I went to the gym after work, and then met Dallas, Claudia, and Claudia’s sister, Cece, for lunch at Lily’s. We probably stayed for about an hour and it was great. I like them. I contemplated going shopping when I got back, but ultimately didn’t go. I napped with Scout for 2 hours instead. I just cannot get over how adorable she is. She’s so crazy/silly/cuddly/talkative/great. The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful.
Tuesday 8/3: Sleeping in was great, even if it was interrupted by a cuddly kitty several times. I spent most of the morning/afternoon at home, and then I went to the gym before going to work at 4. I closed with Amariah and Christian, so it wasn’t a whole lot of fun, and we got out a little late because Amariah doesn’t do things until the last minute. And I think it was the last time I’ll be working with Christian. So Sandy is planning on leaving, leaving a shift leader spot open, Claudia isn’t a barista anymore, Daisy’s transferring, Joe’s going back to school, Jesse’s moving, and Christian’s leaving. That’s 5 barista spots open and we’re already short 1. So we need 6. And I bet Grace is going to get fired fairly soon. So that’s 7. It’ll be me, Yeltsin, Johnny, and Amber. And I bet Yeltsin will try to take Sandy’s spot. Or I will. Probably not. When I got home I started listening and downloading music, and it made me kind of sad. I have so much music, and I wish I could listen to all of it, multiple times in a row, and just enjoy it whole heartedly, but I don’t have time. I’m fixin’ for a concert, but like a small one. We’re going to a concert next month, but that’s a big one.
July 21-27
Wednesday 7/21: Not only was I woken up early by scratchy kisses, I was also swatted at, which led to my eye being scratched. It’s okay though. I can see just as well/poorly as I did before it happened. I decided to make breakfast instead of having cereal, so that was nice, and I just lounged around until it was time to go to class. I should’ve been doing homework, but I wasn’t. The prompt for my paper was sitting next to me, but I didn’t do anything about it. I seriously contemplated not going to class, but ultimately ended up going. I should’ve skipped. I had work at 5:15, but I didn’t get there until 5:30 because of class. I closed with Tim and Claudia, so that was nice. I like them. We were being silly the entire time and it was great. Claudia’s only closed a few times before, so she was a little confused about some things, but I picked up the slack. Turns out she has an interview for the open shift leader position. Yeltsin’s interviewing for it too. Tim said he suggested me for the position, but because Amariah and Dallas work with Claudia way more than with me, she’s getting the interview. I don’t mind though. I just think Yeltsin deserves it more than Claudia. I wasn’t too motivated to write my paper for class when I got home, so I did stuff around the house and showered before actually getting to work. It was harder to write than the last one, even though I liked the subject better.
Thursday 7/22: I slept in for as long as I could, watched a movie in class, and was supposed to go out with Claudia, her sister, and Claudia’s friend/Daniel’s roommate, Reagan, but that fell through. Lisa asked if I would help make dinner for the boys, Clay and George, so I gladly said yes. Had I known we would be starting dinner at 9:30, I might not have agreed. But the cooking, company, and food were fun, so I didn’t mind. After dinner, the boys played some video games, Lisa’s friend, Kim Wong, came over, and then we started watching Clueless a little after midnight. Lisa decided she wanted to cuddle with me, so I didn’t get any time with Clay. I like to cuddle and all, but I normally don’t, especially with people I just recently met, but I was tired, so it wasn’t a big deal. Lisa ended up staying and George, Kim, and I left around 2:15. I contemplated just staying up, but I was able to get in an hour of sleep.
Friday 7/23: I woke up at 4 and was ready to start work at 4:45. Too bad Amariah was late. She wasn’t too late, but when I’m expected to be at work that early, I expect the boss to be there that early too. Claudia came in at 7, Daisy came in at 9, and Alex Minke, Gamma Ghkkkkket’s choreographer freshman year, who I guess is just working for 2 weeks, came in at 11. I was supposed to leave at 11, but we were uber busy, so I ended up staying past 1. No biggy. I was sooo out of it by the time I left though. Lisa had invited me, George, and Clay to go hiking with her and Sophia, my RA from Towers, but it ended up just being her and Sophia. I was looking forward to it, but not going allowed me some time to get in a nap. I Skyped with you, which was wonderful and was supposed to go see Inception, but that fell through. Clay invited me over, so I went and hung out with him, Lisa, other Sig Eps, and Laura for a while. Laura ignored me for about 20 minutes until I yelled her name and made her give me a high 5. She wasn’t too happy about it, so she went back to ignoring me. It was ridiculous. After a while, Lisa, George, Clay, and this guy Noah decided to hit up a party a few blocks away. Laura and Mike were coming, I saw them walking about 75 years behind us, but I guess they decided to stay home. They seemed pretty flirty when I was there, and Clay and Joey even made a comment that Laura’s bad news but Mike wouldn’t listen. Claudia was at the party, so that was a nice surprise, and a million other people were there too. A Suite, Gus, some of your BA friends, and lots of other people I didn’t know. I thought that I’d be home a little after 1, but that was before we got to the party. Lisa and I were drinking a little bit at Clay’s so she was tipsy when we got to the party, but that didn’t stop her from drinking more. She was pretty shwasted when we left, but I was taking good care of her. Clay and Garret Kass were talking to some girl named Danielle the whole time, and Clay and Noah ended up leaving me, Lisa, and George behind. Clay wasn’t too drunk, but Noah was in bad shape. I ended up getting home around 2:40. I should really work on getting sleep.
Saturday 7/24: I got a good enough amount of sleep and went into work at 9:15. I was supposed to have the day off, but Johnny asked if I would cover his shift, so I did. I worked with Amariah, Alex, and Joe, who I had only worked with for about 10 minutes before. I didn’t talk to him at all. Joe left when Claudia came in, and then things started getting fun. Amariah was in the back doing manager stuff, so the store was left to me, Alex, and Claudia. It was busy, but we were having a great time. Dallas took over for Amariah, and that added to the fun. Alex left when Yeltsin came in and then I left at 5 to chill out at home for the rest of the night.
Sunday 7/25: I opened, so I had to wake up at the crack of dawn again. We open later on the weekends, so I had to be there at 5:15 instead of 4:45. And Amariah was late again. It was busy the entire time, and it got a little hectic, but I had the bar under control. I was supposed to leave at 9:45, but Johnny missed his bus, so I had to stay an extra half hour until he got there. No biggy. Scout and I napped when I got home and then I left around 2 to get some things from Target. I thought about taking another nap when I got home, but figured it would mess my sleep schedule up even more. I didn’t really do much of anything for the rest of the night.
Monday 7/26: I finally got in a full night’s sleep, so that was really nice. I went to the gym before class and then sat through “humanities”. It’s amazing how that class always makes me want to fall asleep. I can be wide awake before class, but as soon as I sit down, it’s a battle to keep my eyes open. I’m sure that doesn’t help with my ability to “understand” what’s going on. It might be because of the lighting, or the temperature, or my computer. I don’t know. And I wanted to slap that girl that talks all the time. It was hard not to. I went to work after class and closed with Tim and Daisy. Tim was in a bad mood when I got there because he got written up by Amariah earlier for not filling something out. I cheered him up though. And it turns out Amariah didn’t fill out what she was supposed to fill out, so Tim, Daisy, and I all took pictures of the form and sent them to Dallas. Smart? Probably not. Scout was pretty wired when I got home, so I didn’t get to sleep until around 2.
Tuesday 7/27: Little miss April Scout woke me up every hour, on the hour, between 6 and 10, so that sucked a little bit. I went to the gym before class, went to class, and then biked for forever after class. I was extremely low on groceries, I had been surviving on Starbucks and peanut butter sandwiches for a while, so I stopped by Ralphs before going home. I made dinner, thought about getting ready for bed, but then realized I had a paper to write for Sassot. Not cool. I was really looking forward to going to bed by 10. I was physically exhausted.
July 14-20
Wednesday 7/14: I woke up at 3:45, clocked in to work at 4:45, and stayed until 9:30. I don’t like waking up that early for work, but the opening shift always goes by super quickly. I was at the beach by 10, home by 12, and finished up my laundry before going to class. Clay invited me over after class, so I went over and we swam in his pool for a bit and then spent some time talking and hanging out with Joey and Michael. Then Ryan came by with his girlfriend, Tori, to make dinner for everyone, and Michael Gallagher stopped by for a few minutes just to say hi. George showed up with Lisa Tenorio when we were finishing up with dinner. Ryan and Tori left, George made dinner for him and Lisa, and then we (George, Lisa, me, and Clay), watched a movie. Both Michaels were long gone and Joey was in the backyard talking to some rando girl that showed up. Towards the end of the movie, Clay put his arm around me and we cuddled a little bit. When the movie was over, Lisa and George left, and Clay said he had something to show me and carried me to his room, which was impressive since I'm not the littlest thing in the world. I think it was just a ploy to get me into his room because he couldn't remember what he wanted to show me. I brought up a band he had mentioned earlier, so then we sat around chatting about and listening to music. A lot of the stuff he was saying about what he likes about bands/songs/music in general, was the exact same things I would have said. It was great. And then we kissed. Well, no. We definitely made out for at least an hour. That was great too. But it was 2 and I had been up for forever and he had class the next morning, so I left. I was dead tired when I got home, but I couldn’t help but feel happy with how the day turned out. It felt like summer for the first time and I loved it.
Thursday 7/15: I didn’t wake up early enough to get to the beach before the crowds, so I opted for an hour on our balcony instead. No dolphins or seagulls, but that was okay. I left for class at 2, watched a movie that had nothing to do with what we’re supposed to be learning (we watched Seven when we're supposed to be learning about romantic art), went to the gym, and then came back to make myself some dinner and chillax with Scout. I spent the rest of the evening downloading music and surfing around online.
Friday 7/16: I slept in and planned on doing the whole balcony thing again, but it wasn’t warm enough for that. I ended up lounging around and went to work at 2:30. I could’ve gotten my shift covered and gone to Rebecca’s surprise birthday dinner instead, but decided not to. The two people that I would’ve been comfortable with, Tania and Breanna, weren’t going, Tania wasn’t even invited, and it would’ve been weird with Rebecca, even more so with people there. We used to be so close. I failed with that one. A few times. It was really busy for the first few hours of my shift and I got really queasy and lightheaded at one point, but I fought through it and was able to take a break a few minutes later. I don’t know what happened. I closed with Christian and Tim and Tim asked if I wanted to hang out later, but I declined. And by hang out he meant hot box. Apparently Daisy told him about Johnny’s party. Maybe had I not have felt crappy earlier, I would have agreed. I don’t know. I was home and settled by 11 and chillaxed with Scout until I was too sleepy to function.
Saturday 7/17: I slept in, tanned on the balcony, and then watched Chuck until it was time to go to work. I closed with Dallas and Claudia, which was fun. It was busy the whole time, but we made it fun. Claudia and I were gossiping and being silly the whole time, so that was entertaining. We got out a little late, but that was okay. I was home by 11, did some stuff around the house, and then went to bed.
Sunday 7/18: I had work from 8:30 until 3:30, which was kind of a lame shift, but my hours were crappy this past week, so I didn’t complain. The nicer the weather, the busier we are, so we were pretty busy again. But busy means higher chances of tips. And more tips makes up for crappy hours. Kind of. My mom came by around 6 and we made dinner and just hung out for the rest of the night. It was a little weird.
Monday 7/19: I had planned on going to the beach before I had to go to class, but it was too hazey for it to be enjoyable, so I did stuff around the house instead. The whole first hour of class was a struggle. I just wanted to fall asleep. There’s another HUM 313 at the same time as mine, and I can hear them watching videos all the time. I’m assuming they’re educational. They sound educational. Well, I heard Chopin, and we’re supposed to be learning about Romantic art and music, so that made me think they’re educational. If not educational, at least relevant. I’m starting to think that maybe the classroom has a negative affect on me. I felt like an idiot in my Faith and Reason class and I have absolutely no clue what’s going on in this class. I’ve at least had some awareness in all of my other classes. I went to the gym after class, then to Ralphs, then I picked up and deposited my tips (which were lousy), and then came home and Skyped with Katy for a little bit. She said she’ll probably get here a week before school starts. I spent the rest of the evening surfing the internet when I should’ve been doing homework.
Tuesday 7/20: Scout woke me up multiple times, way before I was planning on waking up. She needs to cool it with the kitty cat kisses. I went to the post office and the gym before class and then sat through 3 hours of confusion. Well, class wasn’t so terrible aside from Sassot speaking in Latin again. And German. I kind of knew what was going on. There’s probably like 30 people in my class, but the same group of 6 people talk. There’s one in particular that sits next to me that talks all the time and it’s annoying. 1, I don’t know how she knows what the professor is talking about and 2, I don’t know how she understands herself. Every other word she says is “like” and she ends everything with “in a way”. Work wasn’t anything special and I planned on doing homework when I got home, but I was too cold, tired, and mopey for that. I want to be able to come home and talk about my day. I know I write everyday about things that happened, but it’s not the same. And I know I’ve never been the debriefing/venting type, but I think that’s changed. I think that’s from the extreme introspection and realization of my previous lack of communication combined with my current inability to communicate (talking to a cat doesn’t count). I constantly find myself craving conversation.
July 7-13
Wednesday 7/7: I really like sleeping in. It might be one of my favorite things. Forget raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses. Anyway, I read for class, sat through an excruciating 3 hours of humanities, and then went to the gym after class. I made myself some dinner and was supposed to go out with Clay again, but that didn’t end up happening. I watched some stuff online and then called it a night fairly early.
Thursday 7/8: To contrast with sleeping in, I really dislike having to be at work before the sun is up. Or before normal people are up. I showed up on time, 4:45, but Dallas slept in and didn’t show up until almost 6. I’m still getting paid for being there at 4:45 though. I hit up the gym after work, came back home to change, and then did the whole class thing. It was brutal. I don’t know how I’m going to make it through that class. Clay said I should come over after class, so I did. I sat around talking with him and a few other sigeps and then Clay and I ventured out to Topanga and hit up Trader Joe’s and Cold Stone. It was cold out, so Clay let me wear his jacket. Cute. And there was definitely flirting going on. When we got back to his house, we watched a movie with a most of the guys who were there when we left. They were there the entire time I was, so Clay and I didn’t have any time to be flirty. We did, however, sit awfully close on the couch. I left at 1 and there was no kiss goodnight, once again.
Friday 7/9: Scout doesn’t understand that I don’t enjoy having my face attacked by what feels like wet Velcro. It isn’t pleasant. I woke up and 9 and texted you and Erin for a while and then crashed until 1:30. Glorious. I enjoyed not having to go to school and then went to work at 6 with Yeltsin and Tim. Turns out Sandy’s quitting too. Claudia’s leaving, Daisy’s leaving, and now Sandy’s leaving. That just leaves new Claudia to converse with, but we hardly ever work together. But we’re going to be friends, so I guess everything will be okay. And Jessie, Yeltsin, and Tim are good to talk to too, but it’s not the same. I stocked up on groceries after work and surfed around online until it was time to go to bed.
Saturday 7/10: It did not feel like a Saturday at all. I think it was because I didn’t have class 5 days in a row. I went into work at 9, worked with Christian, Jessie, and Sandy, then Johnny replaced Christian, then Yeltsin replaced Jessie, then Amariah replaced Sandy, and the Amber replaced Johnny. I was supposed to leave at 2, but ended up staying until 5 to cover part of Claudia’s shift. Her house burnt down about a week ago, so she went back home to Chicago for the week and wasn’t back in time to come into work. I probably should’ve napped, but I just showered and sat around instead.
Sunday 7/11: I was planning on sleeping in and doing laundry until work at 6, but I woke up early and went to Clay’s to watch the World Cup instead. I texted you about the Laura dilemma, but eventually went in. She didn’t notice me for a while, but we hugged and then didn’t really talk until we left around 4. She said, “you know we need to talk, right?” I nervously smiled and that was it. And there were no developments with the Clay situation. I got home around 4:30, chillaxed for a bit, and then went to work with Tim and Amber. The last hour of work was super slow, so we were able to get a lot done and were out right after closing.
Monday 7/12: I slept in, paid our electricity bill, and read before going to class. Class was brutal, as expected, and I hit up the track before going home. I should’ve started working on my paper for HUM as soon as I got home, but I didn’t. I surfed around and watched a few episodes of Chuck. I’m about 11 episodes away from catching up. I left the house around 9 to go get some coffee and picked up and deposited my tips. Depositing money into my account makes me feel like a responsible adult and I really like it. I just wish I were in a position where the loan I took out for summer school wasn’t necessary. The whole reason I’m going to school is so I’ll be able to get a decent job that pays well once I graduate. My mom’s worked hard to support the two of us for the past 20 years, but it’s never been quite enough. I want to make sure I’m in a position where I can help her out as much as possible and ensure that my kids won’t have to worry about what utility is going to be shut off that week or if there will be food in the fridge. I was home by 10, but didn’t start working on my paper until 1. I was too busy fb chatting/flirting with Tim from work. And then I got restless and still didn’t want to start my paper, so I did a mini workout to wake me up a little bit. I was able to bust out 4.5 pages before calling it a night.
Tuesday 7/13: I woke up early to shower, finish my paper, and read for class, and then did the whole class thing. I can’t follow what’s going on in that class. Sassot gets all philosophical and starts speaking in Latin. Not only do I not speak Latin, I don’t do too well with theories and philosophy. I thought I was supposed to be learning about history. I’m a factual kind of person. I want to know facts, I want to see how things work, and I want to put into practice what I learn. After 3 hours of nonsense, I decided to run on the treadmill vs the track since it was hot out, and then went to Starbucks to flirt with Tim before going home and talking to you. I showered and did laundry for the rest of the evening and tried to get in bed at a decent time.
June 30- July 6
Wednesday 6/30: I didn’t have class, so I slept in, worked on my paper, and then went to work. I worked with Grace, the new girl that nobody likes, Emory, and Amariah, and closed with Daisy and Claudia. Daisy’s transferring. I got home around 11, paid our cable/internet bill like a big kid, and then went to work on my prospectus.
Thursday 7/1: I went to bed at 8 and woke up at 9:30. No big deal. I went to class, gave an extremely informal presentation of my prospectus, and then went to work at 2:30. Confirmed: nobody likes Grace. I was home by 7, I napped, studied for my COM final, and chillaxed for the rest of the evening.
Friday 7/2: I got an A on my prospectus and I felt good leaving my final. I had previously promised Clay I’d go to the party at his house, but I gave in to peer pressure and went to Johnny’s birthday party. I rode with the new Claudia and Daisy. I think I want to be friends with Claudia. And she grew up in Glen Ellyn. The party was uncomfy, but after a drink and some herbal refreshment, it was tolerable. We got Daisy home in Calabasas a little before 2, and I drove through the canyon since Claudia was too tired to concentrate. I got home around 2 and had the bright idea to go to Clay’s. Everyone was pretty much cleared out and Clay was getting ready to crash, but he postponed that part to chat with me. I left at 3 and we almost kissed goodnight, but ended up awkwardly chuckling and saying goodbye for the millionth time. He was drunk and I was delirious, so it wouldn’t have been smart.
Saturday 7/3: Poor Claudia had work at 5 and I had work at 9. I was covering Johnny’s shift since he was going to be too hungover to work. It was super busy until around 2, and I was already dead tired by then. I got to leave 45 minutes early, so that was nice. I spent the rest of the day chillaxing with Scout, texting Clayson, and watching stuff on my laptop.
Sunday 7/4: San Diego with Clay didn’t happen, which I think was smart. I was supposed to work 6:30-10:30, but I switched shifts with Claudia, so I worked 2:30-6:30. It wasn’t as busy as everyone was expecting it to be, but there were a few times where it got a little hectic. After a good amount of caffeine, I didn’t mind the rushes of people and actually had fun making drinks and being silly. I got home around 7:15 and hung out with Scout until 9 when I went out to watch fireworks from the balcony. Perfect. Only it was cold and I was lonely. I remembered about spending last 4th of July with Daniel and all of his family, so that didn’t help with me feeling lonely. I was thinking, I used to like being by myself from time to time to think over things and kind of detox from the world, but now that I’m always by myself, I don’t like it very much.
Monday 7/5: Clay and I were texting until close to 3, and it was flirty, so that made me think that our date really was a date. I did stuff around the house since I didn’t have school and I didn’t have work until 5. Work was just the right amount of busy and slow, so that was nice. We got out a tad bit early, so I had a little extra time to prep for my “date”. Clay picked me up and we went out to Diddy Riese, and he paid, but since it was only a buck fifty, that isn’t really saying much. But whatever. We talked, laughed, and were flirty pretty much the entire time. There was no kiss goodnight, so that left me a little confuzzled about whether it was a date or not. We were texting after he got home, and I’m pretty sure he sent me a text meant for someone else because it didn’t fit into our convo. It said, “I couldn’t. I went out on a date”. So it was a date. I went out on a date with Clayson Spackman. And he said he wants to go out again. I think that’s allowed.
Tuesday 7/6: Scout woke me up multiple times with her scratchy kitty cat kisses, but I finally got out of bed close to noon. I got ready for my day, went to the bank to set up a wire transfer, and then went to class. I’m in the same classroom that I had my faith and reason class in, but now there are 3 times as many people. It was crowded with 10. We were pretty much piled on top of each other and had very little room to move. The girl on my left was eating and texting the whole time and the guy on my right was chewing gum the whole time. Fun. We got out at 5, 20 minutes early, and I finally got myself to go to the gym after I ate and chillaxed for a bit. I spent the rest of the evening spending time with April Scout, texting, and surfing around on my computer.
June 23-29
Wednesday 6/23: Class went okay, but it was all stats stuff, so that sucked. You would figure that learning about stats the second time around would make more sense than the first, but it doesn’t. I’m still lost. I got out of class with enough time to go home, make myself a quick lunch, and then get to work. Sandy was busy doing supervisor stuff and this new girl, Amber, was on bar while I was on register. We really should’ve switched, but Sandy wanted it that way. It got really busy and Amber wasn’t going to fast, but there wasn’t very much I could do. Sandy assured me that I was/am way faster than Amber, so I felt better. Then Grace and Daisy showed up when Amber left. Grace was pretty much texting the whole time and just got in everyone’s way. Sandy was the most vocal about how annoyed she was with Grace. Sandy also assured me that I wasn’t/am not annoying, so I felt better. Sandy and Grace left when Tim showed up, and then the fun started. We were flirting the whole time, and it was obvious what we were doing. He threw out the, “your boyfriend” line just so I would say I didn’t have one. And he asked when we were going out. And he wrote me a note on a cup. Cute. But I can’t go out with him. It’s not allowed. I was supposed to get out at 9, but there was a lot of stuff that needed to get done and Christian couldn’t come in again, so I stayed until 10. Tim didn’t want me to leave, but I couldn’t work past 10 anyway. I came home, dealt with a hyper kitty, and watched more stuff of my laptop.
Thursday 6/24: Scout woke me up multiple times, so I was tired when I got to class. I had work from 2 until 6 with Sandy and Jesse, but Christian was out again, so that meant I had to stay late again. Tim showed up at 6 when Sandy left, but we weren’t nearly as flirty as the day before. I was too tired. And Jesse and I declared ourselves besties since we’re pretty much the same. And Alyson Hannigan came in, so that was cool. I got home around 10:30, ate, showered, and then called it a night.
Friday 6/25: I woke up early to study for my COM test, which was difficult since it was all stats related, but I think I did okay. I went to go pick up my paycheck after class, which was and then went to Ralphs to stock up on groceries. I was back home by 1, made myself some lunch, and then sat around watching How I Met Your Mother. Scout was in a talkative mood, so we chatted for a bit and then ended up napping for about 2 hours. I spent more time watching stuff online and then left at 10 to go to Clay’s house for s’mores and banana bread. He lives in a house with 5 other boys in Calabasas. It’s only him and one other guy for the summer though. The banana bread and s’mores crew consisted of me, Clay, Jorge, Zach, Mike, Chase, Meagan, and Chelsea. We sat around chatting and making s’mores outside while we waited for the banana bread to finish baking. It was really nice. And the banana bread was soooo good. We all took off around 1, I got back home around 1:30, and then got ready for bed. And Clay texted me to make sure I got home safely and to tell me goodnight, so he earns major points for that. And he cooks.
Saturday 6/26: I slept in and did NOTHING productive. Grown-up/college student fail. It was just so nice to be able to sleep in and not have to go to work or school, so I took full advantage of it. It wasn’t smart, but I think I needed it.
Sunday 6/27: I allowed myself to sleep in until 10 and then I tried my best to get some of my homework done before going into work at 4:30. I closed with Sandy and Yeltsin and was home by 11. Nothing special happened aside from Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), coming in. Real exciting day.
Monday 6/28: I had way too much caffeine at work, so I couldn’t fall asleep. I ended up watching HIMYM. I’m all caught up. I was finally able to fall asleep around 3:30, giving me about 4.5 hours before waking up. It wasn’t until after I was already up and getting ready that I realized I had my alarm set for enough time to study for a test, which means an hour earlier than I needed to read for class. It wasn’t that big of a deal though. I was just cold, so the thought of being under warm blankets was nice. I went to class, but after the professor gave us our daily quiz, he said we could leave and work on our papers. Kind of a waste, but whatever. I guess Scout was happy I was home early because she was talking up a storm and being silly. I love her. I tried to work on my paper, really, I did, but I couldn’t. Scout is too amusing/cuddly.
Tuesday 6/29: I spent a good chunk of the night talking Daniel through his girlfriend problems. She definitely doesn’t sound like a keeper. I woke up at the right time, got ready for school/work, and left the house at 11. Class went the full time and I chillaxed until work at 2:30. I worked with Johnny and Emory for a while and then closed with Christian and Claudia. Claudia’s quitting. I had planned on going to the library after work to do my paper, but decided to just do it at home instead. I got about halfway done (I mostly read through all of my lengthy research articles pertaining to my topic) and then decided to go to bed since my mind was burnt out.
